When women and girls are freed from adversities and issues, that come as a result of being on their period, then they can unleash their true empowerment.

Unfortunately there are many in the world who are still facing these unnecessary hardships.

We believe that positive change is possible and we're working to prove it.

Can you imagine being discriminated against, even experiencing violence, simply be-cause you're on your period? Sadly, this is still happening in many different parts of the world: women and girls faced with adversity related to their menstrual hygiene.

This positive step towards change will affect entire communities and ensure that future generations have the chance to make a difference for the better.

Our goal is to be a part of this positive change by making sure that girls and women EVERYWHERE have a healthy, sustainable and affordable option for period products. We work with locals, and our aim is to achieve positive, long-term impacts.


When we heard that millions of people across the world don’t have access to menstrual hygiene products because they can’t afford it or are too ashamed to talk about it, we were outraged.

Turns out, we weren’t the only ones.

We’ve teamed up with awesome organisations so we can work together, not just to give people access to cups, but to change this global problem and give everyone (not just those who bleed) a voice.

The Cup project – Kenya (2015 onwards)

The Cup project started in 2015 in Kibera, one of the biggest slums in Nairobi, Kenya. The Cup educates girls, helps them with their changing bodies and provides them with a menstrual cup. The project consists of four one hour sessions where girls get sexual and health education, and they can ask whatever questions they have in mind. The biggest problem for school girls in Kenya is the lack of proper sanitary protection. Most girls miss one week per every month because of their periods, and eventually they will drop out from school earlier than boys. Together with The Cup Foundation, Lunette wants to change this! We want to keep girls in school and teach them how to understand and respect their own bodies better.

Positive Change

Since the project, the lives of thousands of girls have been changed. After the program, the girls who participated in this project no longer miss school due to their periods. They also now have access to reliable information about issues related to sexual health and menstruation. Since working with The Cup, we have continued to see success and have cooperated further.

Fida International (2017 onwards)

Teaming up with Fida International and its local partner, the Pentecostal Church of Tanzania, Lunette is honored to be part of a comprehensive Menstrual Health Management package in Mwanza - where local boys and girls receive training on puberty, reproductive health, menstrual health and menstrual cup use. Additionally, we partnered with Fida International to break menstrual taboos and celebrate Menstrual Hygiene Day on May 28 th , 2018 at the World Village Festival. For each cup purchased from Lunette’s online store, a cup was donated to Fida International. Lunette is also Fida International’s partner in a project that aims to provide economically and environmentally sustainable periods for menstruators in East Africa.

Yennenga progress – Burkina Faso (2014)

Lunette started cooperating with the Swedish Yennenga Progress in 2014. Yennenga Progress launched a project to educate the school girls in Burkina Faso, and Lunette provided menstrual cups for everyone. Yennenga staff members educated the girls about cup use and cleaning, and made sure that their schools could offer them a hygienic place to empty and sanitize the cup. Due to the success Lunette and Yennenga Progress had, they have continued their cooperation ever since.

MHM Menstrual Hygiene Management

Lunette Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) package includes the cup, participatory training, and indicators for following the impact of the tool. The training is provided by a local civil society organization in partnership with Lunette. The training is based on customer’s needs and can include modules related to reproductive health, hygiene, HIV, and human rights.

MHM-package is a tool for development organizations to achieve:

  • Gender equality
  • Improved attendance in school or work
  • Better understanding of reproductive health and rights
  • Improved sanitation
  • Savings for women and girls
  • Waste reduction

The Place

The Lunette menstrual cup is produced in Finland (known for its beautiful nature) in an office powered by renewable energy. If the menstrual cup has taught us anything, it’s that the smallest habits can make a big different. So we’re active in recycling and keeping an eye on any waste.

The Lunette menstrual cup itself is a big high five to the environment. Reusable, long-lasting and producing zero waste for years on end.

The Packaging

The packaging your Lunette menstrual cup comes in uses recycled materials. Reusability is kind of our thing, so we know the importance of recycling where we can.

The People

Your Lunette menstrual cup is packed in Finland by a company called Titry. Titry offers employment to people who might otherwise have difficulties getting a job (a mission we just love).

Charity Work

Lunette participates and helps organize a variety of different charity events and projects across the globe. We’re happy to be able to donate cups and create a #periodpostive movement!

Pride (2018)

Lunette celebrates love and equality for Pride every day, but were able to really support the cause this summer by donating 5 € to Seta for every piece of Pride Diamond Vulva jewelry that was sold in the months of June, July and August.

Lunette x Planned Parenthood (2016 onwards)

Partnering with Planned Parenthood since 2016, Lunette has been excited to get involved through online fundraising events, campaigns and the distribution of menstrual cup education kits. In August 2017, Lunette donated a portion of our menstrual cup sales to aid in the rebuilding of Planned Parenthood clinics that were destroyed by hurricanes on the Gulf Coast. In October 2017, we provided the Planned Parenthood of Los Angeles with over 200 demo cups and other educational materials. In August 2018, we were able to donate 3,000 Lunette Menstrual Cups through online sales for Pride.

Sustainable Period Project (Aus & NZ 2017 onwards)

Teaming up with other sustainable sanitary companies, Lunette is part of the development of SustainablePeriodProject.org. This World First collaboration provides free downloadable presentations, resource kits and education on reusable and sustainable hygiene options to schools in Australia and New Zealand. By the year 2020, Lunette aims to sponsor over 3,500 of the resource kits to be delivered to secondary schools throughout the countries. With nearly 1,000 kits going out in the first six months, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive as teachers and students learn about their sustainable menstrual care options.

FELM (2018)

Together with FELM, Lunette celebrated International Women’s Day for the entire month of March, donating 1.000 € to FELM’s Botswana project, as well as Lunette Menstrual Cups to two lucky winners every week. Additionally, Lunette will help in raising awareness about women’s rights in schools, government and communities alongside one of FELM’s local partners, the Kagisano Society Women’s Shelter, using Lunette education packs. Not only do these education packs have information on menstrual cup usage, but also dive into equality, human rights, sexual and reproductive health, waste management and hygiene.

Skid Row Carnival of Love (2017 & 2018 & 2019)

A celebration of love and hope, Lunette was thrilled to participate in the Skid Row Carnival of Love in January 2017 & 2018, where we ensured that menstruating people who were experiencing homelessness had access to safe period care products. In addition to product, Lunette was able to provide instruction, education and love.

Consent (2017):

Project Consent began as a simple statement to open up discussion of a consent-based culture – as opposed to a culture where rape victims are stigmatized and sexual assault is swept under the rug. Lunette Menstrual Cup helped foster this discussion by donating 10% of their US online store profits from March 15th-22nd, so that Project Consent could continue their mission.


As a key sponsor for PeriodCon 2017, Lunette was able to donate products and provide education to young menstruation activists. Lunette’s North American President, Cathy Chapman, brought insight to the importance of menstruation inclusivity, as well as the work that Lunette is doing around the world. Registered in over 230 high school and university campus chapters, Period.org is a youth-run, global organization that celebrates menstrual health through education, service and advocacy, with product distributions that have addressed nearly 400,000 periods to menstruators in need.

Lunette and Thinx (2016):

Lunette and Thinx teamed up to provide menstrual cups and Thinx underwear to homeless women in New York. Lunette and Thinx wanted to provide women with the necessary essentials to help them have easier and safer periods.

Lunette and Every Month project (2016):

100 women in Manchester,UK were given a menstrual cup!

Lunette and The Red Pump project (Christmas 2014):

The goal was to open discussion about the effects of HIV and AIDS on women and young girls and to educate them about sexual health. During our campaign, Lunette donated 10% of sales in the United States to support The Red Pump Project.
