Get the Most Out of Your Period Tracking App
With smart watches and apps, it’s become easier than ever to track our lives; from our calorie intake to our jogging mileage. Which is no bad thing. The more we understand what our bodies go through, the better we can take care of them. Period trackers are great way to learn more about your menstrual cycle.
What you can learn
There are lots of different period trackers out there, and some offer features that others don’t. But, in a nutshell, they allow to you build a really clear picture about your cycle and any symptoms or signs that reoccur from one period to the next.
All you have to do, is update it every day. It takes seconds to do and it soon becomes a habit.
Depending on which one you choose, you can record information such as your mood changes, your cravings, your sex life, your libido and any discharges or PMS symptoms. The more data you input, the easier you’ll find it to detect patterns.
Importantly, if you’re trying to get pregnant, you’ll also start to understand more about when you’re ovulating and the best times to have sex.
After a while you’ll start to see what’s normal for you and, possibly, what’s not. By being more aware, you may pick up on things that just don’t seem quite right. An unusual discharge, for example, or particularly short luteal phase. (Don’t worry, it’s all explained clearly in our article ‘Understanding your Menstrual Cycle’.)
If that’s the case, your data will be extremely helpful to your GP or gynecologist
You might also learn to be a bit more compassionate to yourself about your PMS symptoms, learn how to deal with PMS and gain some reassurance that you won’t feel rubbish forever.
