Sustainable by default
Switching to Lunette period cups reduces waste, protects users from toxins, saves money, and supports global social impact initiatives—making Lunette a leading choice in sustainable period care.
Across their lifetime, period cups represent a tiny fraction of the energy and resources that go into single-use products. They require no bleaching or chemical additives for absorbency and don’t pile up in landfills or litter waterways and beaches.
At Lunette, sustainability is a promise embedded in everything we do. Period cups are not only a personal health choice—they are a planetary necessity.
Every menstruating individual uses an average of 11,000 disposable pads and tampons over their lifetime, which generates over 200,000 metric tons of plastic-laden waste annually in the U.S. alone.
Most pads are 90% plastic, and tampons contain chemicals like dioxin, chlorine, and rayon, which persist in landfills for centuries. The environmental toll extends beyond waste: cotton production is water-intensive, often pesticide-laden, and non-organic cotton pollutes both soil and water systems.
Choosing a toxin-free, plastic-free period cup not only reduces environmental impact but protects long-term health, combining safety, sustainability, and peace of mind and vagina.
Lunette was the only period cup with zero harmful chemical residues passing the Independent chemical testing by the Danish Consumer Council THINK Chemicals in 2023.
Lunette cups are crafted in Scandinavia with 100% medical-grade silicone, entirely free of plastics, latex, bleaches, BPA,
phthalates, and PFAS.
Health Considerations:
Plastic-based period products can introduce endocrine-disrupting chemicals like BPA and
phthalates, linked to hormonal imbalances, infertility, and long-term metabolic issues.
Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) risk is extremely low when using high-quality cups with proper hygiene.
Safe for users with latex allergies or chemical sensitivities.
Passing independent chemical safety tests is rare; Lunette ensures maximum protection for users while reducing environmental harm.

Equally important is our dedication to social responsibility: we collaborate with partners who foster inclusion and dignity, opening doors for those who face barriers to employment and proving that sustainability is about people as much as it is about the planet.
We’re committed to using eco-friendly packaging materials that are kind to the planet.
Sustainability extends beyond the product itself. Lunette packaging is plastic-free, recyclable, and biodegradable, designed to minimize energy and material use during shipping. Even small details, such as bookmarks and tissue, are made from recycled or plant based materials.
